Restaurant Review: Candelas

Well, I have watched a few restaurants come and go at this Ferry Landing location. But, it looks like Candelas is here to stay. Let me start off by saying that Candelas serves two things very well. Food and romance. As their name suggests, there are a million lighted candles everywhere and each server is trained with all of the formalities. Matter of fact, each waiter carries a business card with their name on it. Had a great experience before, why not call ahead the next time you dine and ask to be seated with the same server?

Their menu is full of options and I feel confident saying that there is something for everyone here. Prices can range into the forties but there are ways to dine well here for less. I have always been happy with their preparation of fish. However, they tend to under cook their meat dishes. Stress to your waiter that you like yours well done if you are not into rare meats. Oh, and Candelas offers a substantial wine selection. I was very pleased with their Spanish white wine.

ATTENTION CORONADO RESIDENTS: You receive a 20% discount just by presenting your driver's license with a 92118 zip code. The Candelas website states that you first need to sign up online then go in and ask for a Neighbor Discount Card. But, the truth is that you can skip the entire process and just tell them you are a Coronado resident when you are presented with the bill. They will ask you for your driver's license so be sure to bring it.

I give Candelas a strong A
